Realizing that the foot was not only the integral foundation of support for the entire body but also intricate in it’s design, Dr. Felton changed career paths to Podiatry.

During his career, he has had the opportunity to be on staff of a Professional Sports Team (Florida Panthers of the NHL), a high school team physician (Coconut Creek High School in Coral Springs, Florida) , Medical Co-Director for the Harrisburg (PA) Marathon, as well as a volunteer coach for a variety of Youth Sports Teams over the past 23 years.

Dr. Felton is also heavily invested in the adage that “we are what we eat” and helps patients understand that their nutritional and dietary habits also have an impact on foot health. Dr. Felton appreciates the fact that his patients rely on their feet and that their foot health often requires multiple approaches, often in conjunction with other fields of medicine. As a foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Felton has focused on continually evolving technologies and techniques, including minimally invasive techniques, to help surgical patients achieve recovery at a faster rate with a decreased chance of postoperative complications.

Dr. Felton also uses the same cutting-edge theories in his approach to wound care, including biological dressings that closely match the body’s own skin healing components so that wound healing potential is maximized.
Aside from his career and sports pursuits, Dr Felton also enjoys fly-tying and fly-fishing, hiking, home organic gardening, and, along with his wife Lisa, being a pet parent to their English Staffordshire and their Chihuahua-French Bulldog mix as they await one of their six adult children to eventually make them grandparents in the future.

Bunions

Bunions can be a real pain!

If left untreated, these bony bumps that form at the base of your big toe can cause discomfort and limit your activities.

Also known as hallux valgus, bunions are very common – about a third of all adults in the US have them due to their big toes pointing inwards.

This causes the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint at the base of your big toe to jut out and form a deformity. If you have bunions, it’s important to seek treatment as soon as possible in order to reduce pain and prevent further complications.
